Washington, DC - The Digital Citizens Alliance today released the following statement regarding reports that FedEx faces a federal indictment alleging it knowingly illegally trafficked prescription medication:
"This is a moment where FedEx can step up and be a leader in the crackdown on criminal activity on the Internet," said Tom Galvin, Executive Director of Digital Citizens Alliance. "The justice system will determine whether or not these charges are true, but FedEx can win back consumers right away and restore confidence in a brand that Americans have come to trust by taking the initiative against the illegal distribution of prescription drugs.”
Digital Citizens over the last two years has tracked prescription drugs sold illegally, steroids marketed to minors, and stolen credit cards made available on the Internet. Galvin says the Digital Citizens Alliance will call on companies to do more to make the Internet a safe place to shop and do business.
