Review of Copyright Laws Holds Great Potential
Washington, DC - Digital Citizens Alliance Executive Director Tom Galvin made the following remarks today after leaders of the House Judiciary Committee announced plans to review U.S. Copyright laws.
"Counterfeiting has become an illegal industry onto itself and it is hurt America's creativity and productivity. The barrage of knock-offs and illegal copies of goods has hit hard the marketplace that creators and consumers rely on. Revising copyright laws will not be easy, but we – and we don't say this often – commend House members on both sides of the aisle who recognize the great need to review and revise existing statues. At the Digital Citizens Alliance, we believe there is an improvement to copyright laws out there that will benefit the Internet economy as well as the creators who depend on smart laws to ensure they can make a living."
